Sensei Stef Finley of the Shoshinkan Dojo
Sensei Stef Finley began training in Nihon Jujutsu in the summer of 1986. Two years later, upon graduating, he enlisted in the US Army. During this period he actively pursued training wherever and whenever possible. Shortly after leaving active duty in 1992 he was introduced to Sensei Toby Threadgill. Sensei Threadgill formally accepted Mr. Finley as a student of Takamura ha Shindo Yoshin ryu later that year. In 1999, Sensei Stef Finley was awarded a Shoden Menkyo teaching license by the Takamura ha Shindo Yoshin Kai. This was the last Shoden license to be personally awarded by Sensei Yukio Takamura before his death.
Sensei Finley operates his Shoshinkan Dojo in Austin, TX. Classes are in keeping with Sensei Takamura's emphasis on realistic self-defense applications taught in a Japanese dojo environment. Along with traditional classes in Takamura ha Shindo Yoshin Ryu , Sensei Finley helps to train law enforcement and military personnel as a certified instructor for Stratego International.
